Gone But Not Forgotten

I think there might be dust and cobwebs covering this blog as I have neglected it for so long! Some of you might know it has been a very crazy year for my family. In October of 2009 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and have spent the better part of the past 10 months being treated. The good news is that I have completed treatment, and am currently in remission. The even better news is that I am back behind the camera, trying to capture as many big moments as I can!

I am so happy to be feeling well just in time for holiday photo season. Available session dates are starting to book up, and I am anxious to see old clients and meet new ones as well.

To celebrate feeling good and getting back to work and to try and promote my business, I'm going to try something new.  If you "Like" Alderman Photography on Facebook and mention it when scheduling a session you'll receive a complimentary 8x10 print from your session.



Easy enough, right? I've also been hard at work on new holiday card designs and brainstorming ideas for unique session locations. If you couldn't tell, I'm pretty excited to be back at work. I know I've been gone, but I hope I haven't been forgotten!

Holiday Wishes

This is a photo from a session I did with my kids in a (futile) attempt to capture a good Christmas card photo. When I first edited the session, I overlooked this one, but when I had the chance to go back and look again, I fell in love with it. I'm always amazed at the way a photo can change over time - the way it can develop a different meaning for you even after you have viewed it 100 times. I encourage those of you who have purchased session discs to pull them out occasionally and look at all of the images - you may find new favorites every time you do so.

I want to thank all of my clients for making 2009 a great year for my little business. It has been a pleasure to photograph all of your families, and I feel honored to be a part of documenting your lives. I hope to see you again in 2010, and I wish you all Happy Holidays and a Healthy New Year

Little Stinker

This little stinker gave me a run for my money, but her cuteness makes up for all the effort. I'm still working through the session, but I think we got plenty to make Mom happy.

When I saw this photo from yesterday's session, I couldn't stop laughing. The look on her face says it all - "Brothers."

Chasing Fall

I feel like I have spent the past two weeks chasing nice fall weather, and not being very successful at it. This is a quick peak at today's session (which was rescheduled from yesterday due to rain), and we had five minutes outside to dodge intermittent showers and capture these lovely girls in some fall colors. I know that their Mom was worried we didn't get anything outside, but much to my surprise, there are some really great shots, and the girls' outfits could not have been more perfect for the fall foliage. These ladies were real troopers and even made shooting in the rain fun.

I'm finally finished editing the sessions from this past weekend, and I couldn't resist posting a few more. These girls were all so lovely, not to mention very sweet and polite.

I feel so lucky to have been a part of the weekend, and I hope everyone enjoys their photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.

She's My American Girl

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the American Girl fashion show sponsored by the Junior League of Indianapolis. All the girls with their dolls were so cute - the matching outfits just killed me!

I also loved the themes of friendship and family that were reinforced throughout the show. So many of these girls attended with their mothers, grandmothers, and best friends.
